1966 Alemite Strobe Light wheel balancer.

The Alemite Stuart Warner manual is written from the perspective of a reasonably capable user. The introduction is helpful to orient the end user to the capabilities of the tool and the rest combines step by step scenarios with notes helpful to interpret the results, to adjust the tool and ultimately to balance the tire.
I keep being intrigued by the concept of balancing the entire rotating train, rather than just the wheel, although there are reasons why this approach has largely gone away as the electronics improved and the degree of precision of manufactured components grew.
Still, if I get my Alemite working reliably, I have a couple of vintage clients with a lot of old school rotating systems – from the 1960s Citroen DS to the W460 Mercedes 300GD with lots of driveshafts and big tires.
