7059 Manual – P5 – Alemite, Model 7059 Strobe Light Wheel Balancer

- Depress brake lever to lower the brake shroud. Push the balancer toward the wheel so that the brake shroud contacts the spinning wheel squarely. Apply just enough pressure to stop the spinning wheel. AVOID ABRUPT STOPS.
- Rotate the wheel by hand until the reference mark is at the same position noted while the wheel was coasting at balancing speed.
- Apply weight at top of wheel (12 o’clock). If the needle rose beyond the mid-scale of the meter, apply a 10 ounce trial weight. If the needle did not rise beyond the mid-scale of the meter, apply a lighter trial weight. See Figure 7.
- Check the balance of the wheel: Spin wheel somewhat above balancing speed. Permit wheel to coast and watch meter.
If the needle remains in the green section, the wheel is balanced kinetically.
(Position of reference mark can be remembered by comparing position to the hour hand of a clock. For example, if the mark appears at the top, it would be “12 o’clock” – at the bottom “6 o’clock”, etc. Figure 6)
