- The torque is produced due to the shape of the cam. The cam follower exercises it force at the point of contact with the cam. - In the straight ahead position, the point of contact of the cam and its follower is situated along the axis O and O'. The force of the piston acts in the hollow of the cam and tends to keep the vehicle in a straight line ( no torque ). :
