- The various elements of the hydraulic gear selector are : a) the selector slide-valve : - This is hollow and has 1 inlet port for HP fluid and 5 outlet ports ( one for each gear ). - Longitudinal and circumferential grooves are machined in the slide-valve to allow the return of fluid to the reservoir by way of the front face of the gear selector. ( From a gear, for example ).
