  1. Check the balance of the wheel by spinning the wheel somewhat above balancing speed. Permit wheel to coast. While the wheel is COASTING, loosen and retighten the thumb screw on the pick-up arm to re-set pick-up.

Point strobe light at coasting wheel and watch meter. If the needle remains in the green section, the wheel is balanced.

  1. If the needle moves out of the green section, note the position of the reference mark at the highest meter reading at balancing speed.

Brake wheel. Rotate wheel so the reference mark is at the same position noted at highest meter reading.

Check position of weight with diagram in Fig. 12. Reposition weight or change amount of weight as instructed in figure 12.

Repeat the procedure until the needle remains in the green section.

  1. Recheck work.

If outside weight is within this area, shift the weight toward the rear of the car (shift inside weight equal distance toward front of car).

NOTE
If the outside weight shifts from one side to the other after moving weight as indicated in the diagram, it has been shifted too far. Move weight back one-half of original distance.

If outside weight is in this area, shift the weight toward the rear of the car (shift inside weight equal distance toward front of car).

If outside weight is here, it is too light.

If outside weight is here, it is too heavy.

If outside weight is within this area, shift the weight toward the front of the car (shift inside weight equal distance toward rear of car).

If outside weight is in this area, shift the weight toward the front of the car (shift inside weight equal distance toward rear of car).

If outside weight is here, it is too heavy.

If outside weight is here, it is too light.
