9. Remove the crankshaft. NOTE: The crankshaft bearing caps are marked with a figure except the cap at the flywheel end which is not marked. Number 4 bearing cap is fitted at the timing gear end. After fitting the bearing caps, the figures must be towards the camshaft. If the crankshaft shell bearings are to be used again, mark them so that they can be returned to the same positions they occupied before dismantling. Remove: - the bearing caps, - the bearings, and the half thrust rings on the central bearing (No. 2), - the crankshaft, - the upper bearings and the other two half thrust rings. 518/G/3
