By the end of today, I have the DS winched into the garage and on gojacks. I can make the following additional observations:
Pallas: I found the mounting holes for the thin lower moldings on all panels. Along with the plastic hood release handle ends and other details, I think I found just about every Pallas item I have read about.
Rust: As I was hoping, this DS has what passes for rust in the super dry states like Arizona and Utah (you guys west of the Rockies are so fortunate with this!), where it had spent its entire life. There is plenty of the "forever in that state" surface rust one sees in old western junkyard scenes, but everything is solid. The red dust covered everything and probably contributed to the preservation of metal. I jacked up the car by the factory jack point (front, lt.) and observed no audible nor visual warning signs.
This was my gambit - a Pallas car with manageable surface rust vs. sight unseen non-runner, with questionable history and hydraulics. The high trim spec and rust level went in my favor, the hydraulics, probably not. Remarkably, and on the plus side the entire exhaust system looks to be complete and solid.
On the problem side, the prolonged dry sitting around resulted in nearly every wire (and soft seal) deteriorated. This car needs the entire harness replacement. There is also enough damage to the front left fender that it needs replacement along with the hood which is deformed from someone squishing it in the center near the windshield. It lost its proper curve enough to have one of the wiper pivots eat a hole through it. Another reminder of the kind of "care" the car previously received.
To move forward, I will attend to the first things first - getting the motor running while avoiding any additional hydraulic oil circulation, followed by hydraulic work in earnest. Before the motor turns over, I will remove the pump belts to avoid circulating anything in the system right now.
I have penetrating oil in the spark plug tubes at the end of the day. Tomorrow, the plugs come out and oil goes into the cylinders for a soak before I turn the motor over. I have ATF and Kroil on hand, along with marvel Mystery Oil. Which to use for the piston soak ?

I will start a separate LHS to LHM comment thread for better focus.
